17 million Chinese (yes, in China) watched the 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals broadcast on CCTV 5 — the main sports broadcaster in the People’s Republic of China. “We are grateful to CCTV 5, and to the great people of China for welcoming us into their homes,” said PBR CEO Randy Bernard. “The PBR is truly an international sport, and we know that cultural sharing like this can only lead to greater understanding between our peoples.” With this many potential new fans, breeders may want to start offering partnership info in the Mandarin, Cantonese or Han languages on their websites… |

Tom Teague bet reigning PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi $20,000 that he couldn’t ride 2008 World Champion Bucking Bull Bones. It was an offer Marchi, couldn’t refuse… after all, if he lost, only his pride would take a hit (if he lost he didn’t have to pay Bones $20,000!) Marchi faced off against Bones after the first night of the Winston-Salem BFTS event. Bones turfed Marchi. Teague then made the same challenge to J.B. Mauney for Oklahoma City. Mauney was able to get it done, becoming the first man to ride the World Champion Bucking Bull. He earned a 93.5 from the judges—and $20,000 from Teague. |
